Does anything leave my Mac?
No. Questions and answers are handled by Apple’s on-device model. notchman sends nothing to a server, and there’s no account or API key.
Which Macs does it work on?
Macs that run Apple Intelligence: Apple silicon on macOS 26 or later, with Apple Intelligence turned on in System Settings. On other Macs the tab says why it isn’t available.
Is it as smart as ChatGPT or Claude?
No. It’s a small on-device model: quick and private, good for shortening, summarising and explaining, but it can be wrong. Check code and facts.
Can it read my screen or my files?
Only what you give it: your question, and your clipboard when you press Use clipboard.
