Does it work on a Mac without a notch?
Yes. On external displays and older MacBooks it draws a small black tab at the top centre of the screen, and everything works the same way.
Which macOS versions does it support?
macOS 14 Sonoma and later, on Apple silicon and Intel.
Is it a subscription?
No. You pay once and get every future update and every new tool, on up to 3 Macs. There's no free version and no trial; if it's not for you, there's a fourteen-day refund.
Do Dictation and Rewrite cost extra?
No, they're included in the one price, like AI Chat and every other tool. There's no Pro plan and nothing to top up. All three run on your Mac, with Apple's on-device speech recognition and Apple Intelligence, and need macOS 26 (Rewrite and AI Chat also need Apple Intelligence turned on). Nothing you say or write is sent to a server.
Do I need an account?
No. You buy here and get a license key, on the page after checkout and in your receipt email. Press Open in notchman on that page and the app activates itself, or paste the key in the notch. No sign-in.
Where does my data live?
On your Mac, in your Library folder: one database, plus the audio of any voice notes. Nothing you make is synced anywhere.
What permissions does it ask for?
None to start. Calendar access for the Calendar tool; the microphone for voice notes and Dictation; Accessibility to paste clipboard items, snippets and dictations where your cursor is, and for Rewrite to replace your selection; Screen Recording only for Grab text.
How do Revenue and Analytics get my numbers?
You paste an API key from your own Stripe, Polar, Dodo, Lemon Squeezy or DataFast account. It's stored in your Mac's Keychain and used to talk to that service directly.
Does it drain the battery?
No. Nothing runs while the notch is closed, and it sits at zero in Activity Monitor.
How do I use it on another Mac?
Paste the same license key there; it's in your receipt email. One key works on up to 3 Macs. At the limit? Free one in Settings › License on the Mac you're leaving.
What if it's not for me?
Fourteen-day refund, no questions. Reply to your receipt email.
